    Summary
    Tour d’Afrique Ltd. is a Toronto based company named for its
    flagship cycling tour that annually traverses the African continent
    from Cairo to Cape Town. Since its birth in 2003, two more transcontinental tours have been added; the Orient Express,
    crossing Europe from Paris to Istanbul, and The Silk Route, crossing Asia from Istanbul to Beijing.

    We think there is nothing else like them in the world right now!
    We hope that our tours not only bring joy to the participants, but also give back to the people in the areas through which we
    travel and send a message to the world about what we, as individuals, are capable of.

    Our Mission
    To create cycling events that appeal to amateurs and professionals alike.
    To create “back to basics” cycling stage races unparalleled in length.
    To cross continents under human power.
    To do some good while we are having fun.

    Registration for Tour d’Afrique 2008 is open – with a record number of riders already signed up. There are a few spaces still
    available.

    There are four types of participants:

    Racers: open to individuals who plan to go all the way.
    Expedition riders: will cover the distance at their own pace.
    Relay teams: 'corporate' or 'club' teams where each team member races a section of the trip and passes the
    "baton" to his teammate at predetermined stops.
    Sectional riders: will ride a section of the trip.  

    The Tour d’Afrique race and expedition are open to any individuals over the age 18 who have undertaken a medical
    examination to ensure that they are physically capable of partaking in this journey. Individuals under 18 must provide release
    from their legal guardian in order to partake, and no one under the age of 16 years is eligible.
