Tai Chi (Sample) Holiday in China

According to legend, Tai Chi was founded by a hermit Taoist,
    Chang San-Feng, between 960 - 1368 A.D. Done in a slow-motion,
meditative exercise, Tai Chi is used for relaxation, health and
self-defense. Originally from China, Tai Chi has become popular
throughout the world because of its healing health benefits.
A healthy excercise, Tai Chi has no equivilent, but as a martial art, it can be lethal. Tai Chi relieves stress and promotes the
mind to reflect on natural balance. Practicing Tai Chi twice a day over a duration of time, will attain flexibility, good health and
    achieves mental peace.

    Summary (Sample)

This is only an outline showing what is possible. The program is completely flexible. A detailed summary will always be

The holiday model here starts with you flying out on a Saturday and allows four days to get to Yangshuo with the time being
spent in Hong Kong, Beijing or Bangkok. You then have twelve days of intensive Tai Chi.
The actual start and end times may vary slightly depending on your preference and how Wang Zhi thinks you can best learn,
but this general pattern is a reasonable guide.

Some people spend up to six hours a day training though I prefer about four hours a day.

There is plenty of time in between the morning and afternoon class for rest and relaxation and as discussed on the Yangshuo
page this is a beautiful and interesting place to do just that.

If you wish to learn Chinese then the school has its own Chinese teacher and holds twice daily classes after the Tai Chi
    lessons.

We've scheduled in an overnight stay trip to Longsheng because this is an extremely beautiful area and gives an added
'Chinese countryside' feeling to your holiday. The journey up to Longsheng gives you a chance to see more of China than
just the Yangshuo area as well.

Finally there are three days at the end to comfortably travel home with a stop off somewhere on the way.
Tai Chi is all about flowing in a relaxed way and I'd hope your holiday and journey flow at a good pace before and after your
training time as well as while you are at Yangshuo itself.

How much will it cost for a three week trip?

In total the holiday works out at about USD 3,000 (including return ticket from London) for absolutely everything for a three
week holiday of a life time.

The hotel and restaurant expenses can be much lower if you wish because Yangshuo caters for many levels of tourism.
I can comfortably pay $ 60 per month for a room in a house and pay $ 4 per day for food. Obviously this means that staying
longer in Yangshuo and at the Tai Chi school does not add significantly to the price of your holiday.

So really how long you stay for is a choice based on your lifestyle back home and how much freedom you can take rather
than being limited by the costs in Yangshuo.
I personally have always chosen to stay longer and at a certain stage you can even choose to help out locally teaching
English and hence assume a respected and useful role in the local community.
For most people however the reality of life means that three weeks is the maximum that people can take out from a busy
working life and so I have designed the basic package with this in mind.

Learning Tai Chi intensively with Wang Zhi Ping, and in such a beautiful area is a real joy and opportunityin life so I hope I am
able to help many people to have this in their lives.

So why not learn Tai Chi....
