    Réunion is ruggedly beautiful, an island of contrasts. Three cirques
    or amphitheaters dominate the topography and the climate is
     temperate in the mountains. The east coast is characterized
    by verdant, tropical vegetation and wild, black volcanic beaches. The west coast is generally dry, with golden, sandy
    beaches.
    Réunion is a French department and has the most sophisticated infrastructure in the Indian Ocean. Over
    1000 kilometers of hiking trails cross the interior uplands, with gîtes or mountain houses along the way.

    The island caters for almost every sporting interest. Popular outdoor pursuits include canyonning (abseiling in waterfalls),
    paragliding, horse riding, and mountain biking. The coral reefs off the lively west coast town of St Gilles-les-Bains attract
    scuba divers, while the famous ‘left hand waves’ of nearby St Leu beckon surfers from around the globe.

    Arrival at airport. Car hire. Visit the Vanilla Museum. Road to Salazie. Evening meal and night in Relais des Cimes** in Hell
    Bourg.

    Day 2
    Discover the cirque of Salazie. Ecomusée, old thermal establishment. Road to the high Plaines. Evening meal and night in l’
    Ecrin** in Plaine des Cafres, or Azalées** in Plaine des Palmistes.

    Day 3
    Visit the Piton de la Fournaise and the Maison du Volcan (volcano museum). Road to Cilaos. Evening meal and night in
    Hotel des Neiges*, Aloès** or Tsilaosa*** in Cilaos.

    Day 4
    Walk with PEI guide to discover life as it was years ago (“vie lontan”). Evening meal and night in Hotel des Neiges**,
    Aloès** or Tsilaosa*** in Cilaos.

    Day 5
    Craft work and discovery of the Cirque. Thermal Establishment, mountain biking, walks, embroidery, wine, lentil industry,
    canyonning. Road to the west coast. Evening meal and night in l’Auberge des Fougères** in Tévelave.

    Day 6
    Option: Helicopter flight, paragliding flight or microlite. Stella Matutina visit, as well as the Conservatoire Botanique de
    Mascarin. Evening meal and night in the Auberge des Fougères** in Tévelave.

    Day 7  
    View overlooking Mafate. Adventure forest or Mountain biking on Le Maïdo. Tévelave tamarind orchard or relaxing day on
    the beach. Evening meal and night in Domaine des Jamroses*** in La Montagne or Lodge Tamarin*** in La Possession.

    Day 8
    Creole houses, market and shopping in Saint Denis. Return to the Airport.
