Climbing (Worldwide) Samples summary Ice Climbing (The ultimate chill!) Are you cool enough to scale one of these incredible ice walls? Kept at a constant -12°, they have been purpose built by hand to create several ice faces, complete with bumps, crevices (and icicles!) to suit a range of abilities - from beginners slopes to steep overhangs, vertical courses and confined canyons. Over one hundred tonnes of snow has been used to create approximately 300m² of solid ice. On arrival at the venue you will be met with your instructor, who will conduct a full safety briefing and show you different climbing techniques. Then it's time to get kitted up with all the safety gear before you head to the ice wall. Your climb will be under strict supervision of an instructor at all times and tuition is on a one to one basis. This experience will last for approximately one and a half hours, including briefing time and the issuing of safety equipment. You will spend a minimum of 40 minutes in the ice tower. Half day Climbing (Clinging to the cliff face you might wonder why you decided to do this) The dramatic coastline of Pembrokeshire is certain to present you with a challenge, whatever your ability. With a qualified local guide you will scale sandstone slabs and have the chance to abseil back down. There is an enormous sense of achievement so don't forget your camera or your friends will never believe you! Adventure sessions begin at 9am or 1.30pm and last approximately 3½ hours including travel time. After an introductory briefing you will be issued with a safety harness and helmet before taking a short minibus ride to the activity venue. You will need to provide trainers, unrestrictive trousers/ jogging bottoms and warm windproof clothing. During the session you will try bouldering, rock climbing and abseiling with a qualified and experienced adventure guide. There are great views along the Pembrokeshire coastline. From the eastern Pyrenees in the north of the country down to the dramatic mountain ranges which dominate the hinterland of the Costa Blanca, there are countless climbs to ease in the novice and challenge the most experienced enthusiast. |
